7. April 2006, ein historischer Tag in der Geschichte des Muay Thai:
Die Sportart Muay Thai wurde von der GAISF anerkannt!
Am 7. April 2006 fand in Seoul (Korea) das Meeting der G.A.I.S.F. (General Association of International Sports Federations) statt. Die GAISF ist die internationale Sportorganisation in der sämtliche olympischen Sportarten und ihre Verbände organisiert sind. Die Anerkennung durch die GAISF gilt als Vorraussetzung, um als olympische Disziplin anerkannt zu werden.
Die International Federation Muay Thai Amateurs (I.F.M.A.) hat sich um die Anerkennung beworben und wurde nun auf dem Meeting der G.A.I.S.F. am 7. April 2006 als offizielles Vollmitglied anerkannt. Somit ist der erste Schritt zur Anerkennung des Muay Thai Sports als olympische Disziplin getan.
Die Aufnahme in der GAISF (General Association of International Sports Federations) ist das Sprungbrett zur olympischen Anerkennung und damit auch zu finanzieller Unterstützung durch den Staat. Des weiteren werden durch die Anerkennung der GAISF auch die Türen für viele Internationale Veranstaltungen geöffnet, die bis jetzt für uns verschlossen waren. Somit kann die Sportart Muay Thai zum Beispiel auch im Rahmen der WOLRDGAMES präsentiert werden.
Das Muay Thai (Thai-Boxen) ist eine der am schnellsten wachsenden Kampfsportarten und verbreitet sich in einem unaufhaltsamen Siegeszug um die Welt. Die Aufnahme in der GAISF wird dem Aufschwung der Sportart Muay Thai noch einen kräftigen zusätzlichen Schub verschaffen.

a memorable date, as the IFMA has been accepted into the GAISF by an overwhelming majority vote of International Sports Federations. MUAYTHAI under the umbrella of IFMA is now a member of the Olympic family. Membership of the GAISF represents international acceptance of IFMA as the indisputable peak body for MUAYTHAI in the World. Congratulations to the IFMA executive board present at the General Assembly have come from many Olympic and non Olympic recognized sports .
H.E General Pichitr Kullavanijaya, Privy Councilor of His Majesty the King of Thailand will take the President of GAISF, the IOC in Thailand, President and General Secretary of IFMA, President of WMC to a private audience with His Royal Crown Prince of the Kingdome of Thailand to present this wonderful news.
